Hi there ๐ My name is Clifford Wan, and this is my blog.
I'm a Brit living in Hong Kong, a husband and father of a 3-year-old boy, a proud owner of a giant lab called Archie and the founder of Babington Education, a language school with over 36 Education Department-licensed English language schools specialising in teaching young children how to read and write. My passion? Bringing the joy of reading and writing to young learners everywhere. That's my personal impact on our world.
Through my unique teaching methods, I've had the privilege of guiding over 100,000 children to become confident in reading and writing with phonics, with most of these learning English as a second language and many having no English at all!
My method has been proven to be successful with children learning English as a secondary language and, not surprisingly, even more successful with children whose first language is English.
My journey in education is as colourful as the stories I love to teach. I've gathered a Bachelor's degree from London, a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education, and a Master's of Education degree from Australia. I was even admitted to a Doctor of Education program at the renowned University of Bristol, the fifth-highest-ranking research university in the UK. Though I stepped back in 2019 due to the pandemic, my enthusiasm for teaching has only grown.
What really makes me tick is breaking down complex ideas into fun, easy-to-grasp lessons. I'm all about ditching the jargon and getting straight to the heart of learning. My belief is simple: teaching should be clear, practical, and, above all, fun, especially when it's about something as essential as reading and writing.
