Hi there, I'm Clifford, and I'm thrilled to share my journey with you.

I've had the incredible privilege of witnessing the transformative power of phonics in empowering children to read and write. Through my unique teaching approach, I've been able to make a positive impact on the reading and writing skills of over 103,000 students in the brick-and-mortar schools I founded back in 2009. I wholeheartedly believe in the effectiveness of my methods, but I've always wanted to reach even more children. Driven by my passion for helping kids read and write, I realized that my phonics schools could only serve our local community.

To make a broader impact, I needed to expand my horizons by opening more phonics schools. And that's exactly what I did. To date, I've founded 39 schools, all registered and licensed by the Education Department, with 36 of them currently in operation. Every single day, we have thousands of children at our phonics schools, all benefiting from my proven methods.

In 2023, I had an epiphany. While brick-and-mortar schools are impactful, they have their limitations as they primarily cater to the local community. My desire to help more people led me to a new endeavour: sharing my secrets through an online course. This shift allows me to break free from the constraints of a physical school and reach children far and wide. I wholeheartedly dedicated myself to creating the best possible online course to achieve this mission.

How it all began

I hail from a sunny island called England🌧️, and my journey to becoming an education expert started back in 2005 when I visited Hong Kong for a holiday. Little did I know that my holiday would never end, as I fell in love with the city. To make ends meet, I started teaching part-time, and to my astonishment, I discovered that I had a real talent for it. I had a natural connection with kids, enabling me to understand how to effectively teach them, almost like a superpower.

Motivated by this newfound passion, I decided to dive headfirst into the field of education, pursuing every qualification available to me.

In 2009, I co-founded Babington Education with my girlfriend, who is now my wife and the mother of my child. Through the hard work of my dedicated team and the support of the community, we transformed our company into one of the largest learning centres in Hong Kong.

My Qualifications 👨‍🎓

I've pursued the full spectrum of qualifications in my pursuit of excellence. I hold a Master's degree in Education and a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education from Australia, complemented by a Bachelor's degree from London. I've also received formal phonics training under Ruth Miskin Training, an Education Department-approved synthetic phonics program in the UK, and have earned a collection of certificates in teaching English. My academic passion for education even led to my admission to the Doctor of Education program at the prestigious University of Bristol, although I had to suspend my studies due to the challenges posed by Covid.
